FREQUENTLY ASKED
How does AI character swap work?+−
The Studio runs dedicated video character-replace models — P-Video Replace, Runway Aleph, and the Kling O3 video-edit family. You upload a clip, then describe the replacement character or upload a reference image of one. The model tracks the original character through the footage and renders the new one into the same motion, so the performance stays and only the performer changes.
Can I swap in a real person?+−
Only with their consent. Every upload passes a safety check before generation, and the studio blocks swaps involving real people who have not agreed to it. Yourself, characters you created, brand mascots, and described fictional characters are all fine — that covers nearly every legitimate use anyway.
How long can the clip be?+−
Video-edit models work on short clips — typically 5 to 10 seconds per run depending on the model. For longer footage, cut it into segments, swap each one, and join them in your editor. Shorter inputs also render faster and cost fewer credits, so segmenting is the right move either way.
How much does a swap cost?+−
Video editing is priced per run and scales with clip length and model. The exact credit cost shows on the model card before you run — nothing generates until you have seen the number. A free account starts with 30 credits plus 30 dropped daily, no card, and paid plans start at $10 per 30 days. No watermark on any tier.
What replacement characters work best?+−
Characters with a clear, describable look: an original animated character, a brand mascot, a costumed figure, a creature design. You can define the replacement with a text description or a reference image — the image route holds the design more consistently across frames. Characters you do not have rights to are blocked by moderation.
Does the new character follow the original motion?+−
Yes — that is the whole trick. The replace models preserve the motion, camera path, and timing of the source clip and map the new character onto them. A walk stays a walk, a gesture lands on the same beat; what changes is who is doing it.
